Cosenza ::.
COSENZA Set in a lovely hilly setting, the town has an ancient quarter, clinging to the Colle Pancrazio, and a modern quarter, in the plain below. It is claimed that the Visigothic King Alarico was buried here beneath the river bed. In the old town you may visit the gothic Cathedral, where Isabel of Aragon is buried, and the medieval churches of S.Domenico and S.Francesco. Walking through the narrow Corso Telesio (former called the Merchants and Goldsmiths Road) you get the atmosphere of the medieval town. Visit the Museo Civico Archeologico and the medieval church of S.Francesco. For a panoramic view, walk up to the Norman castle. |
