This town developed in the Middle Ages around the abbey built in 612 by the Irish monk S.Columbanus.
The abbey's church hosts an interesting crypt and the saint's tomb.Close by, the Museo di San Colombano with sculptures, paintings and reliquaries.
In town, visit the medieval Piazza Duomo, the Castello Malaspina built in 1304 and the town's symbol, the Ponte Gobbo or Devil's bridge.
