At the southern tip of the Riviera di Levante lie the Cinque Terre, a series of five picturesque, medieval fishing villages linked by scenic mountainside paths and surrounded by vineyards and olive groves - Corniglia, Manarola, Monterosso al Mare, Riomaggiore and Vernazza.
Corniglia is renowned for its olive groves and hanging vineyards and boasts an enchanting, sheltered beach.
Vernazza has two Saracen towers and the Ligurian Gorgic church of Santa Margherita d'Antiochia.
Monterosso al Mare, with its sandy beach, is the most touristic of the five villages.
