An enchanting town and one of the most romantic spots in Italy.
It has a promenade lined with oleanders and limes, fin-de-siècle hotels, and a hilly old centre with narrow, cobbled streets and alleyways.
Don't miss the luscious gardens of the Villa Serbelloni, on a hill above the town.
The beautifully frecoed interior is closed to visitors, but you may join the guided tours around the gardens.
