Lecco became famous as Alessandro Manzoni used this area as the setting of his novel "I Promessi Sposi".

Its touristic attractions are the Museo del Risorgimento e della Resistenza, Piazza Garibaldi, Piazza XX Settembre, the Romanesque San Nicolò with 14th century frescoes and the Museo Civico housed in Palazzo Belgioioso.
