Certosa di Pavia

A Carthusian monastery just 8 km out of town, world famous as it's one of the best examples of Renaissnace architecture in Lombardy.

The complex was founded in 1397.

The interior hosts the tomb of Gian Galeazzo Visconti, altars in semi.precious stones, frescoes by Il Borgognone, a painting by Perugino.

Don't miss the cloisters and the Italian-style garden.
