This is the capital of the wine-producing area of Monferrato.

Visit the Torre Rossa in Corso Alfieri and the Rotonda di San Pietro (a Romanesque building which was part of the old priory of the Knights of Malta).

The most important sight in town however is the Romanesque-Gothic church of San Secondo which houses important works of art.
