Santuario di Oropa

A popular pilgrimage place with the revered statue of the Black Madonna, brought here in the 4th century by St Eusebius, the bishop of Vercelli on his return from the Holy Land.

Founded in 1620 and surrounded by woodland it is an enormous complex of Baroque buildings.
