VERBANIA
A charming town on the shores of the Lago Maggiore.
It was created in 1939 by uniting the two towns of Intra and Pallanza.
Visit the Romanesque San Remigio Oratory, the Basilica of San Vittore, the Casa della Resistenza Peace Park (built next to the memorial area laid out in 1964 on the spot where, on 20th June 1944, 43 partisans, one of whom amazingly survived, were shot by Nazi-fascist soldiers) and the Landscape Museum.
Verbania is an ideal starting point for excursions to the Monte Rosa.
