VERCELLI
Vercelli is the rice capital of Italy and an enchanting town with interesting sights.
The basilica of S.Andrea is a fine example of Italian Gothic; nearby, the Duomo di S.Eusebio is built on the remains of an early Christian basilica and hosts the crucifix of Bishop Leone, a masterpiece of goldsmith's art from the 11th century.
Also interesting: the church of San Cristoforo, frescoed by Gaudenzio Ferrari and the Museo Borgogna, one of the region's major art galleries.
