Alberobello
This small town on a hilltop, surrounded by olives and almond trees hosts the famous Trulli ; these whitewashed buildings are unique, rounded structures with cone-shaped, grey stone roofs.
Typical of the province of Bari and Taranto, they are unique in all the world.
The city's historical center was declared an International Human Resource by the Unesco organization.
It is made up by a hundred trulli some 5 centuries old. Noteworthy is the trullo church, as well as the Trullo Sovrano, a very large, two-storey structure.
The Casa d'Amore is an example of the development from the trullo to the villa.
