This city owes its fame to the battle between Spanish and French in 1503 when the Italian cavalry led by Fieramosca achieved victory alongside the Spanish.

The Cantina della Disfida hosts a reconstruction of the challenge proclaimed between the soldiers of Fieramosca and those of the French captain.

The Duomo is in Romanesque-Apulian style, as well as the Basilica del S.Sepolcro which hosts a Byzantine style Madonna.
