Gargano Promontory
The spur of the boot of Italy, covered with the famous Foresta Umbra, a wooded area with a very rich flora (ancient pines, oaks, beeches) and fauna.
This area is the heart of the Parco Nazionale del Gargano.
The northern part of the spur, has a low, sandy coastline which then gradually becomes steeper with high limestone cliffs opening onto coves of white sand.
Many white single-storey fishermen's houses can be found in the coastal towns and villages.
Have a stop at the towns of Rodi Garganico and Peschici and at the bay of Baia delle Zagare.
