This town in the centre of Sardinia is the main town of the Barbagia area.

The ancient districts once were connected by the "Bia Maiore", now, Corso Garibaldi.

The Museo Speleo-Archaeologico hosts interesting prehistoric and proto-historic exhibits.

The Ethnographic Museum displays the objects and costumes of popular traditions.

Also of interest are the church of Le Grazie, the Cathedral, the country church of Valverde and that of La Solitudine which hosts the remains of the Nobel for Literature in 1926, Grazia Deledda.

The Museo Deleddiano, in the author's birthplace is also worth a visit.

In the environs of Nuoro, visit the Necropolis of Sas Concas.
