Sassari ::.
Alghero The most Spanish Sardinian town. Seven defensive bastions dominate Alghero's centre and its surrounding walls; like a citadel. At the bottom of Via Umberto stands the late Gothic Cathedral. Outside the old quarter, most of the tourist activity takes place around the port, surrounded by colourful fishing boats and bordered by bars and cafès. The Forte de la Magdalena is the most important Sapnish fort in town. The church of San Francesco has a dome, covered with coloured tiles, which has become a symbol of the city. |
