Travel and Tourism Information

CALTANISSETTA

Located in the very heart of Sicily, this town boasts the baroque Cathedral of S.Maria la Nova and S.Michele with frescoes by the Flemish artist Guglielmo Borremans.

Among the interesting sights there is the 17th century Palazzo Moncada, the ruins of the Saracen Castello di Pietrarossa, the church of S.Sebastiano, the richly decorated Sant'Agata as well as many other Baroque churches.

A little out of town you’ll reach the Romanesque Badia di Santo Spirito – founded by Roger I in the 11th century.

It hosts a beautiful wooden crucifix of the 15th century.

The small Museo Civico houses archaeological finds and modern art.
