Acireale
This town all in Sicilian Baroque style, faces the Ionian Sea and is famous for its sulphurous thermal waters.
The Duomo has bell towers covered with coloured tiles, frescoed vaults in the interior, a sundial on the floor of the transept and the chapel of S.Venera, the patron saint.
Also worth a visit; the church of SS.Pietro e Paolo, S.Sebastiano, a walk to S.Maria della Scala - a nearby pictoresque fishing village.
