Taormina

Taormina

Taormina lies on a terrace on the Ionian coast; immersed in a luscious sub-tropical greenery, it is one of the most famous destinations in Sicily.

The town has a medieval appearance with narrow streets and small passages.

The most famous view you can get on your strolls is the one overlooking the Greco-Roman amphitheatre, with Mount Etna and the sea in the background.

The Greek Theatre was built by Greeks in the 3rdcentury BC but then rebuilt by the Romans in the 2nd century AD.

Between July and August the theatre hosts an international arts festival including film, theatre and music.

Visit Palazzo Corvaja, the seat of the first Sicilian parliament in 1411; Palazzo dei Duchi di Santo Stefano, the church of S.Caterina and the Villa Comunale in a beautiful panoramic position.
