Trapani ::.
TRAPANI Trapani lies on a promontory facing the Egadi islands. Stroll through Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the old Loggia, Via Torrearsa, Via Garibaldi, and you’ll notice many enchanting palazzi and churches: Palazzo Cavarretta, the Cathedral, Palazzo Riccio di Morana, Palazzo San Rocco, Palazzo Riccio di San Gioacchino, Palazzo Lucatelli, the Chiesa del Collegio. In the Chiesa del Purgatorio, the sacred statues of the Misteri of Trapani are kept. From here leaves the Holy Week procession. San Pietro treasures the precious organ built by Francesco La Grassa from Palermo. The Corso then leads into the so-called Ghetto, Via Della Giudecca and Via degli Ebrei, which was inhabited by the Jewish community up to the XV century. The Northern part of the town is characterised by the Litoranea (with the picturesque and lively Piazza del Mercato del Pesce - Fish Market). Villa Margherita, has giant ficus trees and is ideal for a relaxing walk. Also interesting: the Museo di Preistoria and the Museo del Sale. |
