Once called Corsignano, the town changed name to Pienza after Enra Silvio Piccolomini, who was born here, became Pope Pius II.

Visit the main square, Piazza Pio II, the Renaissance Palazzo Piccolomini, the Palazzo Comunale, Corso Rossellino, the Museo Diocesano, the Gothic Church of S.Francesco and the Cathedral, erected in 1460.
