Called the 'green heart of Italy', it is one of the smallest regions.

Mostly mountainous and hilly with a landscape rich in woods and water resources (e.g Trasimeno lake, Falls of Marmore - the highest in Italy).

It is crossed by the Apennines, which form several valleys.
