TERNI
An ancient Roman city which later on become a trading town and then an industrial centre.
Visit the Piazza della Repubblica, the 16th century Palazzo Spada and the church of San Salvatore, founded in the 6th century.
The Raccolta Archeologica in Piazza dei Carrara is worth a visit, as well as the Pinacoteca Comunale.
In Piazza Duomo is the medieval cathedral of the Assunta which had been radically altered in the 1930's.
Via del Vescovado follows the layout of a Roman amphitheatre on which in the 15th century the Palazzo Vescovile was built.
