This is Italy’s oldest national park, over 70.000 ha with flowered meadows and small lakes.
Once the hunting ground of the Savoia family, it now hosts large populations of marmots, chamois, eagles, mountain goats and many protected species of the flora.
The holiday towns and ski resorts of the Valley are long-established and well-known, like Courmayer, Champoluc and Cervinia. Courmayeur also boasts a medieval centre, the 13th century Torre Maluquin and the Museo Alpino Duca degli Abruzzi.
