These hills are the remains of an extinct volcano.

In this area there are the health spas of Abano Terme and Montegrotto Terme; the Benedictine monastery Abbazia di Praglia, Villa Barbarigo (open to the public, baroque garden) and the small town of Arquà Petrarca where the Poet Francesco Petrarca lived in his old age and was buried.
